High School Principal

Goal: To serve the school community in the general management of the school to ensure that students receive the best possible education and services with the resources available and the school is a positive, safe, healthy and productive place to learn.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The High School Principal will focus on the administration and supervision of the Highschool program. Collaboratively work with various stakeholders to problem solve and create structures that lead to a positive school learning environment and school improvement.  Foster strong relationships with students, staff, and parents are essential.

EXPECTED RESULTS:

  • Maintain an effective learning climate in the school.
  • Coordinates and supervises instruction throughout the building
  • Ensures the compliance with New York State standards and guidance
  • Coordinates and supervises the student management needs within the building
  • Oversees and Enforces discipline as necessary in accordance with the district code of conduct and incorporates restorative justice principles
  • Oversees and implements disciplinary policies through student, parent and staff conferences.
  • Provides for the safety and security of students, personnel, building and grounds and assists with the supervision of the school security.
  • Works with teachers, mental health professionals and other school staff and with public agencies to support students and address matters relating to the guidance and welfare of students.  
  • Works cooperatively with various members of the administration and building staff in addressing building and or district issues.
  • Plans and supervises activities and programs with building staff which are outgrowths of the school’s curriculum such as: plays, concerts, assemblies, student council, field trips.
  • Supervises the maintenance of accurate records; attendance, coursework grades, behavior, social/emotional development
  • Directs, supervises and evaluates teachers, clerical staff and paraprofessionals.
  • Prepares required reports and maintains complete and accurate records of the entire school program.
  • Observes and evaluates the performance of the instructional and support staff and completes required documentation.
  • Oversees and coordinates the schedule of all students, instructional and support staff.
  • Performs related duties that may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or their designee.
