School Lunch Manager

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES (Illustrative Only)

  • Plans and supervises the preparation and service of lunches in a large school or in several small schools;
  • Plans menus or recommends changes in master menus with due regard for nutritional values, acceptability and budgetary limitations;
  • Determines requirements and submits requisitions for foods, supplies and equipment;
  • Prepares layouts and makes recommendations for maintenance of and additions to equipment and plant;
  • Maintains approved standards of sanitation, health and safety;
  • Supervises and trains school lunch personnel, makes staff assignments and evaluates work performance;
  • Assists in the selection of school lunch personnel;
  • Receives, inspects, stores and distributes supplies and maintains inventories and related records;
  • Supervises the collection of and accounting for cash receipts;
  • Makes reports relating to school lunch program activities;
  • Provides information to school staff, students and community agencies which will promote increased interest in the program.

  • Good knowledge of large scale food preparation and menu planning;

  • Good knowledge of institution administration in the areas of safety, personnel selection,training;

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITES (Illustrative Only)

  • Renders first aide, including CPR, cleaning and bandaging of wounds, applying heat or cold to prompt healing
  • Attends athletic events, requires a flexible work schedule, evenings, weekends, as needed
  • Collaborates and communicates with the school physician/organization regarding health care and recommended treatment/rehabilitation of all athletic injuries
  • Oversees the management of and ordering of supplies and equipment
  • Maintains and administers prescribed rehabilitation and treatment
  • Provides instruction to coaches and athletes regarding prevention of athletic injuries
  • Administers preventative taping, bandaging, and wrapping
  • Assists in the coordination of medical examinations for student athletes
  • Maintains fully supplied first aid kits for all teams
  • Advises Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics  as to the safety condition of athletic equipment and facilities
  • Maintains up to date records of injuries, treatment, referrals and other related data regarding athletics
  • Assists coaches with condition, weight training and injury prevention programs
  •  Applies, fits, and adjusts protective equipment and instructs coaches and athletes as to the methods of the same
  • Recommends to student athletes how to relieve soreness, strains, bruises
  • Prepares student accident reports

Thorough knowledge of sports medicine; thorough knowledge of Advance First Aid; good knowledge of the operation and maintenance of health care equipment used; skill in the application of athletic health care techniques; ability to evaluate, plan and coordinate the appropriate care of injured athletes; ability to communicate effectively with others; ability to motivate and encourage the injured athletes during reconditioning; ability to get along with others; ability to keep accurate records and prepare reports as necessary; ability to respond positively to distressing human situations; willingness to be exposed to disagreeable conditions such as offensive sights, odors, blood, etc.; good judgement; dependability; courtesy; tact; physical condition commensurate with the demands of position.
