Modified Girls Lacrosse Head Coach | | PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Head Coach at the Modified level works under the direction of the Head Coach at the varsity level to provide leadership for the entire program within the particular sport. The Head Modified Coach is responsible for program articulation and consistency and is responsible for communicating regularly with the Head Coach at the varsity level. The Head Modified Coach keeps up to date on current issues and trends in the sport. EXPECTED RESULTS: - Plans and supervises all practices, contests, and other events of the junior varsity team.
- Communicates practice plans to assistant coaches.
- Provides input regarding evaluation of assistant coach. Athletic Director will finalize all evaluations.
- Teaches rules, strategies, and skills to the athletes.
- Abides by district policies and decisions.
- Ensures that practice and game procedures, facilities and equipment are safe for student athletes.
- Supervises the management of equipment and uniforms.
- Instructs and models positive sportsmanship and citizenship.
- Provide written feedback on student-athlete performance at the beginning and end of the season
- Monitors grades of student-athletes and acts as a liaison with student-athlete, athletic department, and staff
- Communicates with Athletic Director, parents, principal, and head custodian as appropriate.
- Notifies Athletic Director, Athletic Trainer and/or School Nurse regarding major injuries.
- Notifies the Athletic Director of any unusual incidents in a timely manner.
- Attends meetings as required including:
- Pre-season athletes’ and parents’ meetings
- League or Section coaches’ meeting (if applicable)
- Meetings requested by Head Varsity Coach or Athletic Director
- Assists varsity coach in end-of-season banquet/event with student-athletes and/or families.
- Assists varsity coach in acting as a liaison with youth and community organizations in the sport.
- Seeks professional development opportunities and notifies staff of the same.
- Notifies Athletic Director of any personnel concerns in a timely manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or Varsity Coach
- Maintains appropriate NYS certification in a timely manner.
