GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  The Newark Central School District Teacher Aide will provide educational assistance under the general supervision of a licensed or certified teacher

JOB DUTIES:

  • Work with individual students or groups of students on special non-instructional projects
  • Assist students in the use of available instructional resources, and assist in the development of instructional materials
  • Attend and participate in team meetings for the development of programs to better meet individual student needs
  • Assist in adaptive daily living and self help skills (e.g. changing diapers, toilet training, tying shoes)
  • Reinforce skills taught by speech therapist, job coach, occupational therapist, classroom teacher after receiving appropriate training
  • Provide clerical assistance (e.g. filing, typing, copying classroom material, enter material in computer, relay and respond to telephone messages)
  • Remove students from situations as directed by the teacher
  • Temporarily monitor the classroom when teacher is attending meetings or when the teacher is taken from the classroom to correct a situation that may arise with a student.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

 

$16.80 per hour
