GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  The Newark Central School District Teacher Assistant will assist teachers in the process of proving instruction.  Teacher Assistants will be a resource within the classroom for instructional purposes, including but not limited to differentiated instruction, direct instruction, station work, classroom management, support as outlined in students’ IEPs and general supervision.

JOB DUTIES:

• Provide instructional services to individual or small groups of students under the direct general supervision of the teacher and/or administrative personnel.
• Assist the teacher in the development and preparation of instructional materials
• Assist teacher in related instruction work, as required
• Maintain appropriate records of students under the direction of the appropriate teacher and/or administrative personnel
• Assist students in the use of available instructional resources
• Supervise student and assist in student management.
• Perform miscellaneous clerical duties
• Other duties as assigned

 

Job Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

-NYSED Certification: NYS TA Certification or higher

• PREFERRED: School-based experience, Experience working with children

  EVALUATED BY:  Building Principal

• Must be fingerprinted through the NYS Department of Education (required for new employees)
