The Director of MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support), will work under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction and will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and monitoring of a comprehensive system to address the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of all students through tiered interventions, utilizing data-driven decision making to ensure every student receives appropriate support and reaches their maximum potential; this includes collaborating with building administrators, teachers, support staff, and families for effective implementation of MTSS strategies across the district. Ultimately, the Director of MTSS will provide guidance across the district to ensure that research-based MTSS strategies, interventions, and systems are in place to support student achievement. This position will have evaluative duties.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Planning and Leadership:
- Develop and lead the district-wide MTSS framework, including goals, procedures, and implementation plans aligned to the District’s vision, mission and big rock areas as articulated in the strategic plan.
- Work in conjunction with the Director of Family and Community Engagement to ensure alignment with community organizations, government agencies, out-of-school programs, and families to correlate needed resources to tiered intervention model.
Data Analysis and Decision Making:
- Monitor student progress data across all tiers of support, analyze trends, and use data to inform adjustments to interventions and program modifications.
- Based on needs assessment, oversee the development of Tier 1, 2, and 3 intervention protocols, problem-solving processes, data-based decision-making, progress monitoring, and communication and collaboration processes among Student Support Teams.
Staff Training and Development:
- Provide professional development opportunities for teachers, administrators, and support staff on evidence-based MTSS practices, intervention strategies, and data analysis.
- Develop training programs and provide ongoing coaching alongside MTSS coaches to leadership teams, staff, and teachers on the MTSS framework and research-based practices for tiered intervention.
Collaboration with Stakeholders:
- Work closely with building administrators, teachers, specialists, counselors, parents, and community partners to ensure effective communication and coordinated support for students.
- Implement and lead District Committees that include representation from school sites and other key stakeholders.
Intervention Design and Implementation:
- Oversee the development and delivery of targeted interventions for students at each tier of support, including academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions.
- Implement an MTSS intervention management system (e.g., Panorama) and partner with school sites to ensure effective data collection, data analysis, and program evaluation and efficacy.
- Identify and implement district-wide universal screening for academics, social-emotional learning, and behavior.
Progress Monitoring:
- Lead the process of ongoing progress monitoring for students receiving interventions to assess effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding student support services and reporting requirements related to MTSS.
Supervise:
- Oversee and evaluate departments and staff, including, but not limited to Behavioral Health Team, School Counselors and MTSS Coaches.
Additional Responsibilities:
Trauma Informed Grief (TIG)
- Oversee, facilitate and assist with the systematic response to tragedy and crisis within a district
- Provide immediate support and assistance to students and staff during and after a crisis in collaboration with TIG Team.
- Identify needs and process feelings with students, staff, and the building.
- Offering guidance and expertise to school personnel.
- Identify and provide relevant resources to support the school community.
- Work with other school departments, such as the School Safety and Crisis Response Teams, and external agencies.
- Develop and facilitate in-service training for school staff on trauma-informed practices and crisis response.
- Participate in on-site planning and follow-up activities, as well as monitoring and revising the district's crisis plan.
- Work collaboratively with Director of Security and Director of Family and Community Engagement on Critical Incident Stress Management.
Alternative to Suspension (ATS)/Restorative Practices
- Oversee Social Emotional Learning Interventionists in Alternative to Suspension (ATS) program.
- Oversee the implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
- Oversee the implementation of Restorative Practices across the district aligned with ATS program and Code of Conduct.
- Oversee the revision process of the Code of Conduct.
